From the November Magazine.

The Seven Wise Men of Greece were cited as having as many wise Sentiments, peculiar to each. A Kind of cognomen, or happy thought, which industry has preserved, being the most memorable thing ever spoke, serve as Appendages to their Names, and characterize of their Sentiments. If the Memory of our present Patriots should survive the Age they live in, our Descendants will probably see their respective Images adorned with the following Mottoes.

THE SEVEN WISE PATRIOTS.

1. Lord Mayor. "If my Legs failed, I'd beg to Brentford to preserve the Right of Election."

ACTIVITY!

2. Parson Horne. "I'd die my black Coat red in the Cause of Freedom."

FLAMING ZEAL!

3. Brass Crosby. "I wonders what they means with their Remonstrances and then."

HARD-HEADED STUPIDITY!

4. Watkin Lewes.

"G—d eternally d—n your Soul."

TRUE POLITENESS!

5. Robert Morris.

"I've something else to do."

INSTABILITY!

6. John Wilkes. "Wilkes and Liberty, No. 45. The Cause, the Cause."

SPLENETICNESS!

7. Doctor Wilson. "None of your Scotch Tunes."

MUSICAL TASTE!
