Full Text

Some of them argued sensibly that California ought to drink her own wines before she could expect the rest of the country and the world to do so. We believe the use of the native wines has extended greatly during the past five years, but still the movement is slow. Nevertheless, if the wine-growers go on in their present practical, sensible and energetic way they may be sure of so much success as consists in a permanent market for all the sound wines they can produce.
