Full Text

Mysterious Transaction.—An old and insane female, supposed to be about forty or fifty years of age, was carried in a wagon to the Lamb Tavern on the 4th inst. by a man who afterwards sent her into the country in a stage coach. On Friday she was sent back to the city, no one having been found to receive her or acknowledge her as friend or relative. She was placed in the House of Industry, where she died yesterday, leaving no trace to her name or history. She was dressed in a dark calico gown, plaid silk bonnet and green veil, red shawl, and Denmark satin shoes. It is difficult to conjecture the man's motive in casting off and deserting the unfortunate woman; but his conduct in thus throwing an insane Female upon strangers, deserves severe punishment.
