IN RACE FOR COUNTY CLERK

Former Deputy Enters Race for One of County's Most Important Positions.

The Guard is authorized to announce the candidacy of Joe A. Kennard for the office of county clerk, subject to the action of the voters at the democratic primary March 29.

Mr. Kennard entered the race at this date for the reason that he chose to announce his candidacy after he had been relieved of his duties as deputy tax collector, in which position he has been serving during recent weeks.

He was succeeded Tuesday by S. E. Wells.

Mr. Kennard is by no means a stranger to the voters of the county.

He has served four years as deputy county clerk, two years as deputy tax collector and also served as deputy in the circuit clerk's office. During these terms he made known his ability to well serve the people in office, and if elected to the position he now seeks would make the county an efficient and capable officer.

Mr. Kennard joined the candidates Wednesday and is making a tour of the county in the joint campaign.
