PUBLIC SERVANTS MADE HAPPY
Today is payday at the courthouse, and Warrant Clerk Joe Bishop is busy handing out the slips of paper which represent $16,600. Payday comes later than usual this month, the first Monday in the month falling on the 7th, so the morning rush for the auditor's office somewhat resembled the attack on a bargain counter. Saturday was payday at the city hall, when Comptroller Fairley and Treasurer Peterson made glad the hearts of some 600 or 700 city employees to the tune of over $40,000. This was called a "light" payroll.
