Entrance of the Russians into the Grand Duchy of Warsaw.—The Prussian fortresses declared in a state of siege.
From the Paris Journals we have subjoined some important extracts. They admit that the Russians have entered the Grand Duchy of Warsaw, and driven Macdonald from Tilsit, though it is pretended that he afterwards recovered that town.— They do not attempt to conceal, however, that the Russians are in considerable force in Eastern Prussia. The private accounts from the French go further—they state that Gen. D'Yorck had joined his forces to those of the Russians, and was preparing to act in the rear of the French troops, and penetrate into the heart of the Prussian states; his detachments had already advanced to the neighborhood of Dantzic. Marienwerder, &c. which had caused those places to be declared in a state of siege.
In fact, there is every probability that the French will be obliged to evacuate the Grand Duchy and part of Prussia, in order to concentrate their troops. and preserve a footing in that quarter. The frequent mention in the Journals of the Polish fortresses being strongly garrisoned and provided for a siege was not without strong motives.
