Gen. McClellan's Marriage.—A few years since, Gen. McClellan offered his hand in marriage to Miss Mary, a beautiful and accomplished lady, a daughter of Col. Marcy, of the U. S. Army, and well known in this city, where she resided with her mother during the absence of Col. Marcy in the far West, on severe duty. Col. Marcy objected to the union, on the sole ground that he could not consent to the marriage of his daughter to any gentleman belonging to the army. McClellan at once resigned his commission, and accepted the place of Chief Engineer upon the Illinois Central Railroad, at a salary of $8,000 a year, and three years since, he was married to Miss Mary.—[Hartford Times.
