Mother Austin Carroll

This distinguished Catholic authoress arrived yesterday, as noted in the LIGHT, and took up her quarters at the Ursuline convent, where she was waited upon by several of our citizens. Miss Fairfax who accompanied the Rev. Mother is a descendant of the old English Fairfax family, and daughter of Col. Fairfax, owner of the New Orleans Item.

The morning of to-day was spent in inspecting the Convent, Asylum, and various institutions of the Church in this city. At four o'clock this afternoon they take carriage for the Missions and will leave for El Paso on to-morrow's train.
