Jesus Came To Show Man's Infinite Possibilities
By C. S. STINSON
(Feature Writer for Church Edition)

The cause of Jesus' coming to the earth can best be explained by God. On the part of God, it was a revolution. To men, it must mean a transformation. Jesus came to give them a bigger and better chance to help Him to become a bigger and better man. He came to talk ideals, but ideals can never exist apart from people.

We may talk about the abstract, but it simply cannot exist without something to which to tie.

The only way we know love is because of somebody's love. So Christ simply could not establish a Kingdom of God without tying that Kingdom to somebody. For Christianity is not a theory: it is a life. He says the Kingdom of God is within us. Here is our chance. Are we big enough to play up to the ideals of the Kingdom? Let's test ourselves and see.

Along in the thirteenth chapter of Matthews are recorded some pretty definite descriptions of what is required if we would absorb or be absorbed by the kingdom. Christ uses seven stories.

One tells about the seed-sowing. The truths of the kingdom are sown in our hearts.

If we have sense enough to fight the evil one, we can withstand persecution, will have steadfastness and will not be carried away by the cares of the world or the lure of money, but will pay attention to what God says, then the kingdom has a chance to grow within us.

Of course there will be oppositions. Christ says it's like weeds growing in wheat, hard to tell which is wheat. But patience is required and time will tell. Just remember that we must be clean-cut. Don't think that because tares look like wheat, that makes wheat, and because evil often looks good, that doesn't make it good. The older generation used to say that men grow in grace.

Christ shows how possible it is for us to grow. That goodness can grow even as the mustard plant grows from the small mustard seed.

The history of Christianity is a proof of it. At the end of Christ's three years of ministry, a few, over a hundred faithful believers. They have reached the millions since. But not just the extent, but in intensity there is growth. Here, the illustration is: yeast put into the dough. That is another rule for the Christians. The one with whom we come in touch must be permeated with our type of life, whether in school or in business, or in society. Whether my life touches another, a bit of Christianity goes off from me and must start to grow in that other. If we have the Kingdom of God within us, then we will change the world about us.

We can put the principles of the Kingdom of God out into the world only when we have them within our hearts, and we get them in our hearts only when we allow Him to come in and master our hearts.
