The Prebendary of Gloucester, lately given to Dr. Horsley, it is said was the unsolicited gift of the Lord Chancellor, who, when the living became vacant, wrote him a polite letter, thanking him for the zeal he had shown in his writings for the defence of the church, and as "those who serve the Altar should live by the Altar," the prebendary of Gloucester was very much at his service till something better might offer. The above Prebendary is said to be worth between three and four hundred per year.
