Full Text

For the Pilot.
To My Best Friend.
BY BOB RICE.
I love to think thy friendship
Is a plant well worth my care;
It's gladdened by thy smiles
And hallowed by thy prayer.
It is a priceless gem,
Whose glorious hues combine
To force my heart forever
To worship at thy shrine.
Let thy friendship be as pure
As the first dawn of light,
And 'twill wake my heart to joy,
Though gloomed by darkest night.
And I will ever strive
To make thy friendly love
An object to deserve,
As though 'twere from above.
O let it never fade!
But burn bright as ever.
Till time shall be no more;
Forever, and forever.
