SALT, SUGAR AND MOLASSES.

The Spirit of the Age grumbles because the Whigs would not admit British salt and W. I. Sugar and molasses free of duty, so as to compete with our own domestic producers of these articles! This is the true British anti-tariff ground "Industry will protect itself," say the locofocos; and hence they will knock off the duty on foreign wool and broad cloths and sugar, so that the produce of the farmers of Vermont may be put on a level in our own markets with the peasants of Great Britain and the slaves of the West Indies That is the upshot of the matter.
