Three Acknowledged Murderers Acquitted Without Trial.
New York, April 25.—A Harrisburg, Pa., special says: Last Christmas Della Corbett, Jennie Quay and Ella Kountzman, formerly pupils in the Soldiers' Orphan School, met John Ackley, who was intoxicated, and persuaded him to give them a sleigh-ride. The girls, neither of whom is 21 years old, became intoxicated and abused Ackley in the most beastly manner. Finally they beat him over the head, as he clung to the sleigh and left him to die in a stranger's house. The case came up for trial on Saturday, when the attorney for the girls spoke touchingly of their neglected training, and to the astonishment of everybody, the District Attorney announced that the Commonwealth would abandon the case, and the girls were acquitted.
