Full Text
The present age seems to second every attempt to recover freedom, civil and ecclesiastical. The King of France, a character as amiable as he is great, has the honour to be the first to rescue the oppressed. The history of the American war and constitutions of the several States, have inspired the emperor of Germany with a generous love of freedom, and he seems determined to distinguish his reign by relaxing the rigors of despotism by diffusing learning and wealth, and increasing the happiness of his subjects. Ireland has caught the fire of patriotism from America, and may heaven crown their efforts with the same glorious success.
