The Church Debt Paid.
The festival last night was well attended, and the tables were well patronized. The ladies at 'Jacob's well' were kept almost constantly busy in waiting upon the thirsty promenaders, while the young misses did not lack for energy and zeal in showing the young men where they could refresh themselves. We give the following as the gross receipts of the three
Thursday night, $147 50
Friday night, 189 75
Saturday night, 124 85
Auction of cakes, 50 00
Total, $512 10
It is estimated that $100 will pay all the incidental expenses, leaving a net profit to the church of at least $400, which, we are told, will liquidate the debt on the church.
In this connection we would state that we have been requested by the ladies of the Broad Street Church to return thanks to the citizens of Knoxville for the assistance they have given, and the liberal patronage bestowed upon their festival.
