Full Text

Extract of a letter from General Greene, dated Bacon's Bridge, South Carolina, May 31.

"Flying parties of the British cavalry are frequently making excursions into the country from Charlestown, with no other object, that I can learn, but that of distressing the inhabitants. Two days past, a body of our dragoons, under Lieut. Col. Laurens, fell in with 20, below Dorchester, commanded by Capt. Dawkins, whom they instantly charged and routed, taking from him seven dragoons and one Lieutenant, with ten horses and accoutrements complete. We had three men wounded, and two horses killed."

S.C. The army, notwithstanding our long inactivity, and the supposed unhealthiness of the situation, have enjoyed an uncommon share of health.
