St. John's (in Antigua,) April 23. This day arrived the Annandale transport, Captain Johnson, with about 70 highlanders aboard; she sailed from Cork, with a fleet of transports bound to New York, under convoy of his Majesty's Ship the Hampshire, but sprung a leak a few days afterwards, and after putting into Lisbon to refit, sprung the leak a-new and lost her mizen mast, before she could reach the coast of North-America, and was obliged to bear away for this island, where she arrived in the utmost distress; the men being almost worn out with fatigue, and hardly able to keep the Vessel afloat; to complete her misfortunes she was 3 times attacked to windward by French Privateers which were beat off with small arms.
