Tax Titles—What Are They Good For?—We perceive the authorities of the various counties of the State are going through all the solemnities of selling lands for taxes, and advertising those sold three years since, as liable to be deeded on tax certificates the coming April. In virtue of the recent decision of the Supreme Court, we should like some one to tell us the object of all this. As we read it there has not been a legal tax in the State since railroads and plank roads were exempted from the ordinary tax rolls, and there is not, to-day, a tax certificate worth the paper on which it is printed, except against the county which issued it.—Milwaukee Free Dem.
