As confirmed by the recent PULSE survey of the Savannah Metropolitan Area, WJIV's "Break O' Day" show is the most-listened-to program during the peak listening period of 7:30 to 9:00 A.M. The "Break O' Day" is presided over each day by modest, unassuming, high-strung and disenchanted Dick Morgan. Dick was born aboard a Norwegian whaling vessel in Baffin Bay, the son of Eskimo parents. He showed an amazing ability at an early age, however, learning to walk when he was only four years old. Dick developed an interest in radio when his paternal grandmother won a trip to Los Angeles to appear on a Quiz Show. His canny Grandmother won first prize on the ubiquitous Quiz Show, which consisted of an electric waffle-iron and a quarter carload of shucked corn. Since the prospects were rather dim for growing corn in the Arctic wasteland, the entire family, bag and baggage, four huskies and Little Rock, Arkansas, moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. Little is known of Dick's early childhood, except that he became a familiar figure along the streets of Little Rock, his head swathed in a gay bandana, singing snatches of Calypso melodies to startled tourists. For some obscure reason, unless this threatens to be a new high in commuting, Dick attended Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida. While in Florida, Dick first conceived the idea of growing hair on billiard balls and selling them to unsuspecting travelers as coconuts. He began his career in Radio at KWAM in Memphis, Tennessee, where he developed a large teenage following who thought he sounded like Judge Roy Bean. Dick's versatility also permits him to do an impressive job of conducting WJIV's, "In The Garden" from 1:15 to 2:30 P.M., Monday thru Saturday. He is also the WJIV "Robin Hood Money Man." Dick also makes a personal appearance each week at WJIV's "Big Swim" at the Sophronia Tompkins Swimming Pool, along with Buddy Moore of "Jack The Bellboy Show," Frank Freeman and "Sarge" Louis Watson. His hobbies are bob-sledding, ice-fishing, yodeling, and collecting Mohammedan Prayer-rugs. He is eleven years old.
