NEGRO PRISONERS
DIDN'T SEE WOMEN
Daily Dispatch Bureau,
In the Sir Walter Hotel,
BY J. C. BASKERVILL.
Raleigh, May 31. Eleven Negro prisoners in Central Prison here, had their plans all made to cut a hole through the ceiling of the prison laundry one night recently, into the section of the prison where 114 Negro women prisoners are kept and to spend a pleasant evening with some of their friends there. It was learned here today. But one of the eleven dusky swains lost his nerve at the last minute and "squealed" to some of the prison officials. So the pleasure excursion did not take place.
Instead, all of the eleven men involved in the plot have been transferred to Caledonia Prison Farm in Halifax county for an indefinite period, where they will work on the farm.
