In the Legislature of this state on the 30th ult. a petition was received from several land holders on Gunner's creek, praying a repeal of the law which obliges them to keep up a flood gate at the mouth of the creek. Dr. Leib reported a bill supplementary to the law for extending the power of the justices of the peace, by which the law for the appointment of a high constable of the Northern Liberties is proposed to be repealed, and a power to be given to the people to elect all their constables. A report was made in favour of a petition from Northumberland, praying for a permission for their swine to run at large without yokes or rings. The house went into a committee of the whole on the bill empowering the commissioners of Westmoreland county, to appoint assessors and assistant assessors, and reported a bill without amendment.
