Fellow Citizens,
At your respective County Courts in April next, you will be called upon to elect a Senator to represent the district of which you are citizens, in the state legislature.
The people have a right to receive early information of a candidate's intention, who offers for an office, to which they have the exclusive right of election, that their choice may be considered with the importance of the trust. The moral and political character of the Candidate, is a subject worthy of their consideration, and one which requires time and assiduity properly to investigate. Under these impressions, and at a period earlier than the present, I have presented myself before my fellow citizens, as a candidate for their suffrages, at the Senatorial election; but wishing to increase the publicity of my intentions, I have reiterated my application through the channel of the public papers, and hope that in the exercise of the mind on the above subject, the event may be favourable to the Freeholder's.
Most obedient, and very humble servant,
HUGH HOLMES.
