Full Text

The Richmond Enquirer pronounces the Whig party hopelessly broken up by Whigs South, and Whig Abolitionists North.

Upon which the New York Express remarks:

If this be so, it is in the exact condition the Democratic party was in, when it elected Pierce, going for Secession South, and Free Soil North.

The Whigs then have only to pick up a candidate that nobody knows anything about, as did the Democrats, and when elected, as on their precedents, he must be, he must give his principles to Southern Secessionists, and his spoils to Northern Abolitionists,—and then the Whig party will be just in the present condition of the Democratic party.
