Full Text

Police Resignation.—Our police force was last night deprived of one of its most intelligent, gentlemanly, faithful and efficient members, by the presenting to the department of the resignation of officer Richmond J. Stone. For five years and six months Mr. Stone has discharged the duties of a policeman in this community, and in that time has won many friends among citizens and his brother officers. An opportunity to enter into a more agreeable occupation was the cause of the resignation, the same being assistant to the local freight agent of the Providence and Worcester Railroad. We trust that the place thus made vacant on the police force, will be filled by an equally competent official as he whose resignation we chronicle.
