Benjamin Bache pettishly says, "Is it a falsehood that the Frigate United States is going to cruize against the French republic." Meanwhile there can be little doubt of the fact, that that vessel, and all the rest of our navy, will continue to be employed to that purpose (for which they were built) until a peace takes place; and he must be an egregious ass who imagines otherwise. It's a pleasant satire on the character of that government of murderers, that while we are offering our humiliation to them, to preserve a disgraceful cowardly peace, we find it politic to place no confidence in their faith, but to keep as much as possible à la distance; and yet this latter policy must meet the applause of all discerning men.
