Raymond Benson Post, No. 111, American Legion, is the sponsor of the Cub Pack being organized in the Woodstock area, with Harry Wells and Charles Williams heading up the project.
On Wednesday, March 28, the first of a series of meetings was held in the Community House to acquaint parents and friends with the set-up of the Cub program. This program, which is sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America, is for boys between the ages of 9 to 12. It is a home centered program, with the parents taking active participation in their sons' progress and recreation.
About 20 boys have expressed a desire to become Cubs, and at Wednesday's meeting 11 parents were present to learn how they could assist in starting this worthwhile movement for the younger boys of the community.
The second meeting will be held in the Community House in East Woodstock on Thursday, April 12, at 7:30 p. m. At this time movies will be shown of Cub activities and organization methods and operation will be explained by Assistant Scout Executive John R. Atkin.
Mr. Wells expressed the wish that all parents and friends of boys of Cub age would attend this meeting and learn what Cubbing can do for the boys and assist in making this program available in the community.
