More Reform.-Captain J. Doane has been removed from the command of the revenue cutter Louisiana, and his commission revoked!, to make room for Mr. James Nicholson, the brother of the U. States Marshal. Capt. Doane has been in the revenue service for several years, and has always manifested a zeal, activity and intelligence, that has been as advantageous to the nation, as it has been honourable to himself. During the last war with Great Britain, Capt Doane commanded a private armed vessel that made one of the most brilliant and successful cruises that was made during the war. Off the North Cape, he fell in with in a fog, and was within pistol shot of a British line of battle ship, the Norse (the same ship that drove commodore Rogers, in the President frigate, away from that coast,) and effected his escape, under circumstances of danger and difficulty, that evinced the highest degree of skill, courage and perseverance, and as a masterly nautical operation; stands far before the celebrated escape of Commodore Hull, in the Constitution.
