THE FALL RIVER DISASTER.
INVESTIGATION BY THE CORONER'S JURY - THE MULE HEAD SAID TO HAVE BEEN OILED - TESTIMONY OF TWO OVERSEERS.

Fall River, Mass., Sept. 21. - The Coroner jury for the investigation of the Granite Mill disaster met at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon in the large committee room in the City Hall. Several witnesses were examined, the principal one being James E. McCreery, the superintendent of the mills, whose testimony was substantially the same as previously reported, nothing new being elicited. At 6 o'clock a recess was taken until 7:30 o'clock. At the evening session there were some dozen witnesses present. Each one was examined at length, but their testimony was in substance only a repetition of the statements already published.

Samuel J. Young, the colored boy whose duty it was to clean the mule heads, testified that he saw Dennis Leary oil the mule where the fire is reported to have originated; also saw him throw water on the fire which he got from a sink, two-thirds the way down the room from the fire.

Alfred Buckler, second overseer of the spooling rooms, testimony was a description of what was done there after finding the exit by the stairway cut off, and added that had any one come into the room, as the superintendent claims to have done, they must have heard the screams of the girls, who did not cease for a moment calling his (Buckley's) name, for him to save them.

Joseph Wood, second overseer of the mule-room, who made his escape from the fifth story by means of the fire escape, also testified that he heard the girls in the sixth story screaming; did not hear the superintendent or any one else call for help in the fifth story to escape, and did not see the superintendent at all.

Mr. Shove, the Treasurer of the Mill, was present at both sessions of the jury, but had not been called to testify up to the hour of adjournment, 10:10 p. m. The jury meet at 9:15 a. m. to-morrow.

Two more charred, blackened, and unrecognizable bodies were found in the lower mule room, at the north end of the mill, to-day.
