Miss Hatch, teacher of the Northside school, is still quite ill. Mrs. Appelgren is taking her place.
Perfect attendance-3rd grade-- Miss Strickland: Russell Ahlberg, Alta Allen, Avis Bauer, Edward Carroll, Cecelia Dougherty, Thelma Howe, Norman Hveem, Norma Kurokawa, Andrey Lowers, Margaret McConnon, Elmer Penner, George Seel, Pepton Terry.
J. L. Davey of our city, played Santa Claus to the basketball team.
He cleaned all of the basketball outfits free of charge. This was a big boost and we wish to thank Mr. Davey for his good work.
Our flu patients are recovering rapidly. However, pupils should be careful for some time as the flu has a bad habit of returning. The patient must build up his strength as rapidly as possible.
The high school band gave a novel assembly performance in the form of a contest. Garnet Montgomery and Robert Lovell alternately selected 25 players. Garnet's band played "There is a Long, Long Trail A Winding" and "DeMolay Commander March". Robert's band played the foxtrot "Angry" and the march "Canton Halifax". Garnet's band was awarded first place.
The judges, Messrs Shipman and Foor, were stationed in the hall where they could hear but not see the two bands. The contest was enjoyed by the assembly.
The blizzard caused us to cancel the basketball trip to Terry and the double header at Brockton on Saturday night. My, how those girls wanted to shovel snow drifts.
"Let's Go" was the war cry, but the only word "Prof" could think of was "NO" in big letters. He has shoveled plenty of drifts as it is.
Cars to take basketball boys to Poplar were furnished by Messrs. Rathert and Livingston. One or two players were taken along by the following: Lloyd Montgomery, Ed Krebsbach, James Brownlee and John Coffey. We wish to thank these people for helping us. Mr. Lohn also offered to assist us if necessary. Cars to Poplar are always crowded and making room for a player is a real service.
Messrs. Boe and Livingston took the high school boys to Culbertson Friday evening. Jim Brownlee took one of the boys.
