A public meeting was held at New Orleans on the 4th inst., in relation to the capture of the Santa Fe Expedition, which was numerously attended. Among the resolutions passed was one declaring that the assault upon the U. S. Consul at Santa Fe by the Mexican authorities is an act justifying immediate hostilities on the part of this government; and another, expressing the opinion that the perfidy and barbarity displayed by the Mexicans on various occasions are sufficient to justify the Texans in marching against Mexico, and furnish a warrant for the citizens of a civilized government to join the invading army. -Boston Statesman.
