FLATHEAD CO. CHANGED
Opening date for the deer hunting season in Flathead county has been changed by the State Fish and Game Commission, and the taking of deer in that area will not start until October 15, it has been announced here by Deputy Game Warden Don Wright.
The open season on elk, however, has not been changed, and the open season will start as first announced.
There are certain areas in Flathead county where shooting will not be permitted.
Changes have also been made in the opening date for shooting upland grouse, and in some sections the dates for legally hunting antelope have been postponed on account of the extremely dry weather this fall, and the extra high fire hazard as a consequence of the lack of moisture in many sections.
In view of the many changes made since the first announcements were made of the open season dates, hunters are advised to confer with Deputy Warden Wright, or other officials of the game department or officers of the local wild life clubs before planning their hunting trips.
