DEMOCRAT & NEWS.
Nashinil Him. (In Woieo.)
The "Nashinil Him" which follows, and which
the author says was written in "blapk worse" be-
cause it can be read like prose, and because the
individual most concerned ken rede it better in
that shape, is clearly entitled to the $500 offered
a few years ago for the best production of that
kind. As the poet, although formerly a militia
captain, is not likely to be rewarded in the mili-
tary line by Father Abraham, we suggest to the
committee to fork over that sum to the "Worces-
tor Bard:"

Grote Abram! Grate Patrick! Jf all thes
Knighted States! Grate Pattern cf tye fellers
Which travei in tne soa of Speckeriashun!
Grate Patrarke! shepperd of grate flocks!
I see your sheep a gambling.
A great maoy are black sheep, imported
From Africa into Merican descent,
for improvement of the wool.
Thave been penned up teo long, and nede
A change of pustur for thave got too fat
nd the wool don't grow, and tha ete tu
Much korn; but when thare turned out
Tu pastur, thale hunt grass for therselves, and
The wool will gro over thar ise, and the
Ise of tho white sheop, so neither kin see;
And so you kin fetch om both-tu sheer
Or tu make mutting uv.

Fayther Abraham! yure the Fayther of histery!
Yuro akin history faster than a sowin masheen
With ten fare fingere workin it; yure makin it
rite;
Afore yuro time histery wasn't tru, nor gud;
Yure makin histery grate-you air iand, mebbe,
Histery nill make yu grate; weele see, if we live
Long enuf! Fayther Abraham! make a prokier-
mashun
Tu that offce, yure proklermashuns have
