Plot to Murder Suspected—Three Narrowly Escape Death.

A box of home-made candy sent through the mail has nearly resulted in the death of three persons in Denver, and the police are now trying to trace the sender of the package in the belief that a deliberate attempt was made to poison the people to whom it was sent. Mrs. Marie A. Smith, the divorced wife of A. C. Smith, a merchant of Miles City, Mont., and Violet and Osie Smith, her two youngest children, are seriously ill as a result of eating the candy.
