ENQUIRER-OFFICE, Feb. 6.

From the Merchants' Coffee-House book of this City.

Extract of a letter from Norfolk, February 3.

"We expect a visit daily from the British.—The deposition of a Captain who had been taken by them & carried into Bermuda states "that they had taken on board of their vessels Bombs and shells which he understood were intended for us." This Captain is said to be a man of respectability, and what he states is generally believed. We have had a Meeting of the Court, Common Council and Officers of the 54th Regt.—and they have passed a Memorial to the State and General Government, asking aid &c. and deputed R. E. Lee Esq. and Gen. Robert B. Taylor to carry it on and make a just representation &c."
