CONFERENCE HEARS REV. A. W. LIPPARD

HICKORY, April 26.--Rev. A. W. Lippard, pastor of the Grace Lutheran church at Hendersonville, preached the sermon, marking the conclusion of the first day's session of the western conference of the United Lutheran Synod of North Carolina, opening yesterday at Mount Olive Lutheran church, near here.

The Rev. J. L. Norris of Maiden, was elected president of the western conference, succeeding the Rev. V. C. Ridenhour of Hickory.

The conference was continuing through today.
