Full Text

PASSION SUNDAY.—Last Sabbath was the festival of Passion Sunday, and was celebrated in all the Catholic churches. Passion Sunday is so called because the moment is approaching for the commemoration of the Passion of Christ, to which the Catholic Church now turns all her attention, and to the contemplation of which the whole of next week will be devoted. From last Sunday the paintings and statuary in all the Catholic churches will be veiled as an additional sign of mourning for the sufferings of Jesus Christ. Next Sunday (20th inst.) will be Palm Sunday, and will usher in Holy Week, when the ceremonies attendant on making preparation for Good Friday, (25th,) and Easter Sunday, (27th inst.,) will commence.
