POLICEMEN IMMORTALIZED BY ART
Capt. Gunner Picturesque, Detective Campbell Grave and Roundsman Bach Absent.

Promptly at 10:30 o'clock yesterday morning a tall young man, with a blond mustache, halted opposite the East Sixty-seventh Street Police Station and began to focus a camera on the handsome edifice.

A few minutes later the door of the station-house opened and Capt. Gunner marshalled seventy of his men in imposing array on the steps and sidewalk.

The handsome Captain, after viewing them critically, assumed a picturesque attitude in front, resting easily on the ball of his right foot.

Detective Campbell held on to one of the stoop lamps and looked grave.

Policeman Bull McCollum contracted his majestic features into a portentous frown, and every one held his breath.

At this juncture an individual who had laid in a supply of beer in anticipation of the lockout made an uncertain lunge, and the camera came to the ground with a crash.

The policemen restrained a wild desire to break ranks and arrest the offender, while the photographer gathered up the camera and discovered that nothing was broken.

The outfit was again erected, and with a parting injunction to McCollum to keep his mouth closed the blond young man uncovered the cap, and in the twinkling of an eye the group had been immortalized.

Inside the station all was bustle and confusion. The men had not been informed of the proposed picture taking, and consequently when the photographer arrived many of them were still asleep, and there was a wild rush for clothes. Many did not get downstairs until the circus was all over, and these were naturally very wroth.

Not a sergeant appeared in the group, Sergts. Seely and McMillan being among the late arrivals, Sergt. Linden being on patrol and Sergt. Hamilton being at the desk.

Roundsmen Conboy, Cotton and White were all there, but disappointed at the positions in which they were placed. Roundsman Bach was on patrol, and his comrades regret this, as they think that his ample proportions and smiling face would have been an ornament to the picture.
