A correspondent informs us he has been lately on the great northern road through Hatfield, and met many strings of horses going to London from Yorkshire, and the adjacent counties, which were stopped at Kitt's Inn, Barnet, Hatfield, and other places, by French agents employed to forestall the markets held for the sale of these most beautiful and useful animals, and not a horse of value escapes their diligence. Our correspondent further informs us that this practice is not confined to the road, but that their emissaries buy up every thing they can lay their hands on in the numerous livery stables of this great metropolis. What may be the consequence of this commerce in any future war is referred to the consideration of our superiors.
