CLAYBAUGH & SIMPSON
Claybaugh & Simpson, Grand Junction contractors, have been awarded the contract for graveling Delta's streets.
Bids were opened by the Council at their meeting Tuesday, and after due consideration the bid submitted by the firm in Grand Junction was accepted.
The bids submitted were as follows:
Hotchkiss & Girardet, Delta, excavation, 62c per yard; surfacing, 15.8c per square yard; culverts, $2.65 per foot.
Weir Bros., Delta, excavation, 70c per yard; surfacing, 16c per square yard; culverts, $1.70 per foot.
Claybaugh & Simpson, Grand Junction, excavation, 60c; surfacing, 15.5c per square yard; culverts, $1.55 per foot.
The total cost of the graveling according to the contract as let is estimated at about $42,000.00
Claybaugh & Simpson have let a sub-contract to Weir Bros. for concrete work amounting to about $7,000.00.
Work will be commenced in about ten days and must be completed by October 25th. The specifications call for a smooth, even grade, three inches below the surfacing. Four inches of gravel, crushed so that no pieces will be larger than an inch and a quarter, will be put on, sprinkled, and rolled.
The extent of the new streets will be about a hundred blocks, or a little over four miles.
