French Air Pilot Is Shot by a Woman Passenger In Plane

Paris, Dec. 20.—(UP)—One of the few recorded peace-time shootings in the air occurred today when Pierre Lallemant, engineer and aviator, was wounded in the back by a woman while piloting a plane.

Shortly after the two had left the Villa Coublay airport, Madame Schneider, also an aviator and joint owner of the plane, fired a bullet into Lallemant.

The wounded flier managed to land the ship, then jumped out and ran for aid. His companion then took off. She had enough gasoline to fly 500 miles.

Madame Schneider recently filed suit for divorce. Jealousy was believed to be her motive in shooting Lallemant.
