Full Text
THE RHODE-ISLANDER is a non-political family journal. By the phrase non-political we mean, that all articles of a partisan character or bearing shall be rigorously excluded from its columns. In stating the results of elections we shall, when they are disputed, or uncertain, give the statements of the leading papers of both parties, and cite our authority. The proceedings of the General Assembly will be inserted as fully as our limits will admit, and we shall endeavor to maintain the strictest impartiality in giving the debates upon all important subjects.
The News department, especially local occurrences and marine intelligence, will receive particular attention.
A regular series of Popular Tales will be published in its columns; and in selecting them we shall take much pains to cull such as combine a good moral with instruction and amusement.
