The Supreme Court will commence its September term in this town tomorrow. Chief Justice Eddy will charge the Grand Jury about 10 o'clock.

The collisions of an unpleasant contest, it is to be hoped, will be entirely forgotten on this occasion. Many of those among the warmest political opponents of the Chief Justice, will be among the first to sustain him on the Bench, if they find his present course marked by the dignity and impartiality that has heretofore distinguished it. We doubt not that such will be the case, and that the Chief Justice will studiously avoid any course of proceeding that may imply an unpleasant recollection of recent events.

There will be an unusual amount of criminal business before this Court, embracing some crimes of the highest grade. Among them will probably be two presentments for murder, one for forgery and one for setting fire to a Factory, besides several minor offences. The civil Docket will also be unusually full, and the list of insolvent petitions alone, will probably amount to 150. The trial of many of those will occupy considerable time, and Court and Bar may anticipate a very laborious term. The great number of respectable applicants for the almost nominal benefit of our Insolvent act, will present a scene in our Court never before witnessed, and will impose upon that Tribunal a task of no ordinary delicacy.
