The Baltimore American of Wednesday last, contains a translation from the Gazette of Hayti, of March 23, of a detailed report from the Prince of Limbe to the King, (Christophe) dated at his Head-Quarters, Verrettes, 26th of Feb. 1814, year eleven--giving a splendid account of the capture of Fort Sabourin: he says, "we have made a great number of prisoners--and not one of the garrison, which consisted of 1500 men, was suffered to escape.--Those who were not captured, paid with their lives for the odious crime of fighting against their country and their King." Many of the prisoners had arrived at Sans Souci (Christophe's villa, about 15 miles from the Cape) who were treated by his [black] majesty with great lenity. He also held a levee on the 12th of March to reward his brave officers for their good conduct and brilliant valor. His majesty having conferred on them the dignity of Knighthood, addressed them in a long and patriotic speech!
