Full Text
The arrival of this gentleman with his family, in the United States, has given rise to some conversation and many loose conjectures. The motive of this emigration, as well as that of a number of Scotch families, may receive some elucidation from a passage in the Sketch of the Upper Lakes, which we publish to day. Lord Selkirk, it appears, possesses a large tract of land in Canada, bordering on the territory of the United States, which he had made an attempt to settle previously to the war. It is probable his attention is again directed to that object.
