Full Text

The following is the substance of the Emperor of Morocco's letter to his Britannic Majesty.

"The bearer of this Imperial letter is Just Jacobson, to Abraham Benedi, a person equally esteemed by his master and his country, and who has your Majesty's interest truly at heart. I have given him general instructions in what manner to act; and from his knowledge of public affairs, and of his attachment to our mutual interest, I trust your Majesty will give him that degree of credit which his fidelity to me, and inclination to serve you, justly merit. He is particularly acquainted with the reasons and motives which have been the prime reason of the present embargo, relative to your Consuls withdrawing himself from Tetuan, so contrary to the customs and usages established on such occasions. In fine, I have sent him to your Majesty, because I know he has ability, as well as inclination, to serve both you and me."
