Strickler Bloom No Stickler for Floral Customs

If the plant kingdom has an Emily Post, she must be horrified at the erratic conduct of a poinsettia in the garden at the E. S. Strickler home in El Centro.

This poinsettia, supposed to bloom during the Christmas season and then rest, is in full bloom and has been for a week.

Last year the same plant made a spectacle of itself by blooming continuously from Christmas to May.

The Strickler family received the plant as a gift two years ago and transplanted it from a fancy jar to the yard. It consistently refused to follow rules of conduct and clings to bursts of unconventional bloom.

El Centro garden enthusiasts are frequent visitors but thus far have no explanation, Mrs. Strickler said.
