PREDATORY ANIMALS
In the past few years predatory animals have increased by leaps and bounds, and has created an emergency which demands prompt and drastic action for the curtailment of the eradication of our game by these varmints.
The Hernando County Fish and Game Association promoted a program soon after the organization of this club, by co-operating with the F. F. A. boys of the High school, in the inauguration of a predatory animal extermination program, which has had fine results and is still going strong.
This association was complimented very highly recently by State Game Commissioner L. G. Bruce for the work that is being done in this county by the Association and the Junior members, "The F. F. A. Boys."
Mr. Bruce stated that the Hernando County Fish and Game Association was the first and only one, which has a junior membership and stated that he would suggest this idea to the clubs of the state.
Our hats are off to the State Fish - Game Commissioners for their co-operation in this fight on predatory animals, by appropriating $15,000 as bounties. Two dollars will be paid for each wildcat, $1.00 for each fox. 50c for each o'possum. and 50 cents for each skunk.
This bounty plan will go into operation within a few weeks.
The commissioners also earmarked $5,000 for use in "an experimental program" for the eradication of garfish, which plays havoc with game fish.
Now is the time for everyone to go to bat and make a home run for this fish and wildlife program, if the demands are to be met after the war, caused by increased interest in out-door recreation and pursuits.
We have a very serious proposition confronting us. The solution of this problem calls for big plans, raised sights for the future. hard work and a logical and effective diagram which will be a live and have evergrowing insistency for its success.

A FINE SHOW
The Hernando County Fish and Game Association is being highly complimented by the citizens of this county on the presentation of that very entertaining and educational show, "Wonders of the Southern Wilderness." and lecture by Alexander J. Sprunt, Jr., of the National Audubon Society of New York, to a packed house at the Grammar school auditorium last Friday night.
This wonderful picture and interesting lecture was brought to this city by the association for the purpose of creating interest in the conservation, protection and re-stocking of fish and game and with the hopes that it would be educational as well as entertaining to the younger generation.
State and Federal programs are now in the making. aimed at wild-life preservation and soil conservation, which tie-in, will mean much to the farmers and the general public and improves the environment for wildlife. The War emergency makes the opportunity conservation, protection and stocking a vital issue, and if we to preserve wildlife for the generations it will be necessary to increase present facilities by research and investigation, and a program of reforesting, active n, water purification for erosion of the people as well as benefit

Cold facts always bite back at somebody.

If you are not a member of the associa- tion, and have felt that you were not interested in this important program, won't you think it over?
It is good business for you, your county and your state, and will benefit the coming generations in many ways.
