Daily National Democrat.

Dishonest, Corrupt and Incompetent.

Editor Democrat: I observe by the last overland mail, that Stephen A. Douglas has denounced the Illinois appointments made by James Buchanan, President of the United States, as 'dishonest, corrupt and incompetent.' I only write this in order to inquire of the learned editor of the Cal. Express whether or not Douglas is with the Administration. While on the question asking lay-out, I will also inquire whether or not George Pugh, of Ohio, has any right to defy the President, as he has done, and if so, what is the reason that he is sustained by that Administration 'cuss,' Stephen A. Douglas. Verily, 'things is working.'

I voted for Buck and must sustain him.
