Full Text

Last Saturday morning the ship Minerva, Capt. Forret, arrived from Newry, which she left the 25th of April. By this vessel we learn, the troops were not sailed from Cork, and that it was expected part of them would be sent to Gibraltar, to reinforce that important garrison, the English Ambassador at Madrid not having received a satisfactory answer, when he interrogated the Spanish Court about their very extraordinary military preparations, both by sea and land. They have now in Cadiz 29 ships of war (16 of which are of the line) and 18 sail of transports, and no merchant vessel will be suffered to sail before the departure of the fleet, which was fixed for the 25th of April. So considerable an armament is certainly not designed to go against the Emperor of Morocco.
