VIENNA, June 12.

All the Letters lately received from Constantinople agree, that the Turks are uncommonly embarrassed with the bad Success of their Arms, and with the Accounts that are daily brought of the great Progress the Russians make. They have just received the News that the Turkish Army, commanded by Dageftanli Ali-Pacha, has been totally destroyed by the Russian General Potemkin; and though the Particulars were not exactly known, yet they were assured that the Loss was very considerable, and that the Commander himself, and Muderin Osman Pacha were made Prisoners of War. This Loss was followed by another greater and of worse Consequence: for Abdi-Pacha, Bofagni Pacha of Adrianople, and Chiaoux-Pacha, expecting that Dageftanli Ali-Pacha would be attacked by the Russians, marched with their Troops to his Assistance; but as they came too late, and their Troops were much fatigued with their March, they were immediately attacked, and shared the same Fate: and three Commanders, and a Number of officers were made prisoners, and their Army beaten and scattered, on the 25th and 26th of April. Count Romanzow, who was soon acquainted with the Victory obtained by his General, dispatched an Army of 15,000 men, which passed the Danube near Tulcia, to support him, and being joined by them, General Potemkin advanced without meeting any Opposition; to near Carafow, in order to besiege Varna; where the Russian Prisoners are secured, and where they will have a Communication with the Russian Squadron in the Black Sea; so that in case the Army of the Grand Vizir should be defeated, or meet with the least Check, Constantinople will very soon be blocked up. In the mean Time the Loss of the above four Commanders is computed to be equal to that of losing half the Army.
